What is rubric-based grading?
Rubric-based grading (also called scoring rubric): Scoring an output against a written list of criteria, each with clear levels or pass conditions, such as correctness, tone and completeness. Rubrics make human and model graders more consistent and explain why a score was given, so failures can be traced to a specific criterion.
Rubric-based grading: an example
A rubric for an HR chatbot gives 2 points for citing the correct leave policy, 1 for a polite tone and 1 for offering next steps, for a maximum of 4.
