What is input guardrail?
Input guardrail: A check applied to a user's message before it reaches the model, which can block, rewrite or flag it. Typical checks detect injection attempts, harmful requests, off-topic queries and personal data, and they reduce risk and cost by stopping bad requests early.
Input guardrail: an example
A classifier scans each incoming message and rejects those that ask the bot to 'ignore previous instructions'.
