What is epoch?
Epoch: One complete pass of the learning algorithm over the whole training dataset. Training usually runs for many epochs, and progress is commonly tracked by evaluating loss at the end of each one.
Epoch: an example
With 50,000 training images and a batch size of 100, one epoch consists of 500 weight updates.
