What is PCIe?
PCIe: Peripheral Component Interconnect Express, the high-speed serial connection between a motherboard and add-in devices such as GPUs and NVMe drives. It is organised in lanes, and more lanes or newer generations move more data per second.
PCIe: an example
A GPU sitting in a x16 PCIe slot exchanges data with the CPU over sixteen lanes.
