What is log-odds?
Log-odds (also called Logit): The natural logarithm of the odds of an event, ln(p / (1 - p)), where p is its probability. It stretches probabilities across the whole number line, which is why a straight weighted sum can model them. Each feature weight in logistic fitting changes the log-odds by a fixed amount.
Log-odds: an example
A probability of 0.8 means odds of 4 to 1, so the log-odds is ln(4), about 1.386.
