What is elastic net?
Elastic net: A fitting method that blends the ridge and lasso penalties, controlled by a mixing ratio. It keeps lasso's ability to zero out weights while borrowing ridge's stability when features are correlated, where lasso alone tends to pick one arbitrarily from a group.
Elastic net: an example
ElasticNet(alpha=0.5, l1_ratio=0.3) uses 30% lasso-style and 70% ridge-style penalty on gene-expression data with thousands of correlated columns.
