What is quotient rule?
Quotient rule: A differentiation rule for a ratio of two functions: the derivative of u/v is (u'v - uv') / v^2. It is needed whenever a variable appears in a denominator, though it can often be avoided by rewriting the ratio as a product.
Quotient rule: an example
d/dx of (x / (x + 1)) = ((1)(x + 1) - x(1)) / (x + 1)^2 = 1 / (x + 1)^2.
