What is diskANN?
DiskANN (also called Vamana): A graph-based approximate nearest-neighbour method designed to keep the bulk of the index on SSD storage while holding only compressed vectors in memory. It lets a single machine serve very large collections at low cost.
DiskANN: an example
A billion-vector collection is served from one machine with a small RAM footprint by keeping the graph on NVMe disk.
