What is hit rate?
Hit rate (also called hit ratio, success at k, HR@k): The fraction of queries or users for whom at least one relevant item appears in the top k results. It is a simple yes-or-no success measure used in recommendation and retrieval evaluation.
Hit rate: an example
A recommender is tested on 100 users with one held-out favourite film each; that film is in the top 10 for 70 users, so hit rate at 10 is 0.70.
