What is UDP?
UDP (also called User Datagram Protocol): User Datagram Protocol, a simple transport protocol that sends independent messages without setting up a connection or guaranteeing delivery or order. Its low overhead suits live video, gaming and DNS lookups where speed beats perfect reliability.
UDP: an example
A video call uses UDP because a dropped packet causing a brief glitch is better than pausing to resend it.
