What is loopback interface?
Loopback interface: A virtual network interface inside a machine that sends traffic straight back to the same machine without using any physical hardware. It provides the address 127.0.0.1, which lets programs on one computer talk to each other over network protocols.

A database and an app on the same laptop can connect through the loopback address without touching the Wi-Fi.
